English translation:

Oh deceiving and evil Fortune whose face is some¬times bright, sometimes dark: you always leave my life deprived of all happiness. Everybody learns too late to know your folly. Some believe they are enjoying the world but you then throw them into darkness. He who puts his hope in you can well do a cheerful dance; this is neither fable nor opinion, but is the truth without lies.

German translation:

O trügerische und boshafte Fortuna, du hast mich all meines Glücks beraubt.

Performers: Miriam Andersén (voice & harp), Rebecca Bain (voice & fiddle), Susanne Ansorg (fiddle & rebec)
